The Canadian Reformed Association for the Handicapped is a non-profit, charitable organization. Support is provided to individuals with varying degrees of disability in a caring, Christian environment. The basis of this organization is Holy Scripture, as summarized in the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism and the Canons of Dort. The first Home was established in Information about the Association and Homes is provided in the Anchor Newsletter, which is published quarterly. A DVD is also available which features highlights of the residents’ daily schedule, explains what kind of jobs are being done in the workforce by the residents, and provides a glimpse of the regular and special activities provided inside and out of the Homes. Volunteers are of great importance to the Association, since they provide services which enrich the residents’ lives. Most of these services are given weekly: Bible and catechism classes, musical band practices rewarded with some public performances, crafts, workshop, swimming and bowling. The residents enjoy the individual attention they receive when taken out for the afternoon by a volunteer. The Association is funded primarily by donations and membership fees. Deaconries from Canadian and American Reformed Churches hold regular collections for our cause. While most residents come from a Canadian Reformed background, other Reformed churches have expressed interest in supporting the organization. If you are able and willing to send support, it would be greatly appreciated. |
